08/10/2018

Dr Snežana Mišić, participated in yearly conference of the European Museum Academy in Aarhus, Denmark in the period from 20 until 24 September, within the ‘Out of the Comfort Zone’ project for co-financing mobility of cultural managers and cultural and artistic workers in 2018, implemented by the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation.

Ms Snežana Mišić has been working in the Gallery of Matica Srpska from 2006, first as the curator for education, then she worked as the Chief of Programme and Presentation Department and curator of exhibitions. She has been Programme Director since 2016. She works in the field of research of national art and visual culture of the 19th century.

The European Museum Academy (EMA) is the foundation founded by the group of professionals active in the field of museum activities in cultural sector in general. The Foundation encourages new ideas and experience in order to improve the quality of museum work, and main goals of the foundation are dissemination, spread of values and innovative museum programmes and projects, as well as experts in the field of culture who are active on the European level.

The Gallery of Matica Srpska is one of the candidates for the DASA Award given by the EMA. Participation in the yearly conference of the EMA is a chance to present the Gallery and its programme activities which are, above all, dedicated to visitors and audience development, with special emphasis on programmes which are being prepared within the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ title.

This is the chance to meet current European museum practice and trends, as well as improvement of knowledge and skills necessary for the museum activities, with the aim of improving the quality of work and reaching the European level.

The aims of the ‘Out of the Comfort Zone’ project within which this exchange has been organised, are improving mobility, international cultural cooperation and building institutional and administrative capacities in cultural institutions on the territory of the city of Novi Sad and municipalities of Sremski Karlovci, Beočin and Irig.

This is the first call organised in Novi Sad that promotes mobility of cultural workers and it is the part of a broader strategy of internationalisation of cultural scene carried out by the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation.

Within the ‘Out of the Comfort Zone’ project, the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation supported 13 managers working in public cultural institutions and organisations by providing funds for projects of professional trainings abroad.
