The ‘Idea’ company recognised the importance of the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ project and supported the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation and ‘New Places’ project.
Socially responsible ‘Idea’, as the partner of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation, will contribute to management of small public spaces in Novi Sad that are recognised by our fellow citizens during the ‘New Places – Mikrogranting’ public call. The aim of these small urban interventions is to revive neglected spaces in Novi Sad quarters with innovative ideas and create ‘New Places’ where citizens of Novi Sad can enjoy.
During September, the ‘Idea’ will contribute to the implementation of following projects:
-’Pumptrack Polygon’ suggested by the ‘Invicta Bike’ Association at the corner of Podunavska and Heroja Pinkija Streets.
-’Bici Oasis’, the project of ‘Eko Kurir’, at the quay, near the Rectorate.
-’For healthier, more beautiful and more cultural growing up of our children’, the project of housing community in Branimira Ćosića Street no. 42.
-’Park Amongst Birch Trees’, proposed by the ‘Novo Kulturno Naselje’ organisation, between Braća Dronjak and Bata Brkić Streets.
As the Idea staff say: ‘Two years ago, we supported the idea that Novi Sad is worthy of the Novi Sad European Capital of Culture title. We were looking forward to this title together with citizens of Novi Sad. Novi Sad is our city, and when you are part of it, it is the manner of Novi Sad to pay special attention to it. That is why we believe in the idea – Novi Sad European Capital of Culture 2021.’
The ‘New Places – Mikrogranting’ public call, launched by the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation on 18 April 2018, received 67 project proposals sent by housing communities, association of tenants and association of citizens of Novi Sad and Zone 021 (municipalities of Irig, Beočin and Sremski Karlovci). The selection jury selected 18 projects which received funds for the implementation, 11 of whom is in Novi Sad, 6 in municipality of Beočin and 1 in municipality of Irig.
Within the ‘New Places – Mikrogranting’ project, the call for improvement of small public surfaces has been launched to encourage citizens to be the ones who apply and implement their ideas for concrete locations of their choice with the support of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation and partners in project – Association of Architects of Novi Sad.
The idea of ‘New Places’ call is to organise and encourage local communities and management of public surfaces through joint work, in order to create new urban places in the city and Zone 021. Besides citizens’ willingness to take initiative, the call raises capacities of citizens and local communities.
