The ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation Prepares for the New Year’s Eve Celebration

During the press conference in the City Hall, it was announced that Novi Sad, European Capital of Culture for 2021, will change its look on New Year’s Eve with the help of light-visual production. The artistic concept of the celebration of 2018 was entrusted to a team of directors, production designers, light designers and video artists who have the task to bring the centre of Novi Sad to life. Margaréta Táborosi, art concept director, is in charge of directing this visual performance, Milica Stojšić will work the magic of light effects, while fireworks, specially designed for Novi Sad, during the first minutes of the new year will be organised by HRH Prince Đorđe Karađorđević and Mike Knox.

The ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation, as an organiser of the New Year’s Eve celebration, plans to organise an event with rich art programme that will have more than 50 performers at four locations. The main city square is the venue for big names of the local and regional scenes: ‘Plavi Orkestar’, S.A.R.S. and Darko Rundek, while numerous concerts of various genres, from tamburitza to jazz, will take place at the Republic Square together with numerous animators, acrobats and jugglers. The music magic at the Republic Square will have additional flavour added by local authentic restaurants with their gastronomic offer, as well as local producers of craft beer and domestic liquors from Fruška Gora. Fans of electronic music will enjoy some of the best local and foreign performers in the Studio M on two stages, while the magical Ice Forest in the Danube Park will bring joy for children with special daily programme with animators, performances of children choirs, and numerous other events.

Within the implementation of the New Year’s celebration, the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation prepared varied programme, but with the task to connect music, visual arts, DJs and VJs, light and sound design, directing and cinema skills of individuals and institutions through imagination, movement and contemporary stage techniques.

– We have created the concept led by the vision that combination of different sectors, genres, affiliations, origins, knowledge and skills will show interculturality as a core value of Novi Sad. This combination will bring together the processes of creation and production of a perfect New Year’s Eve experience for our citizens and guests from the region – said Nemanja Milenković, CEO of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation.

The goal of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation is to introduce new global trends in the local creative industry, set new standards in implementation of events, and be the example of good practice for all stakeholders on our scene.
