ECoC Echo is the biggest Regional Summit of project managers of the European Capital of Culture projects organised by the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation held in Novi Sad from 11 until 13 July this year. The total of 20 representatives from 9 European Capitals of Culture and candidate cities for this prestigious title will attend the gathering in Novi Sad.
10 representatives are coming from the city candidates for European Capital of Culture, from Banja Luka which applied for the title of the ECoC 2024, Mostar candidate city for 2024, Debrecen – candidate city for 2023, and from Tirana, candidate city for the title of the ECoC in 2024.
The aim of the summit is to develop new partnerships, identify joint projects and exchange knowledge with ECoC cities. Gathering is attended by artistic and programme directors of the following cities: Matera 2019, Plovdiv 2019, Eleusis 2021, Rijeka 2020 and Timișoara 2021.
The first day of the Regional Summit will be dedicated to the presentation of the potential European Capitals of Culture to the representatives from the existing ECoC cities, discussion and exchange of experience with the aim of good and comprehensive preparation of the application and implementation of a successful European Capital of Culture project.
On the second day, the most successful projects implemented by the European Capitals of Culture will be presented within the sessions, as well as identification of possibilities for cooperation. The ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation will host and organise the event with the aim of connecting and bringing together representatives of cultural institutions from Novi Sad and representatives of candidate cities and cities holding the ECoC title. This is especially important, having in mind the efforts of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation towards internationalisation of local cultural scene and encouraging sustainable partnerships between local and European artists, cultural workers and organisations.
Participants of the ECoC Echo Summit will attend EXIT Festival and enjoy together with thousands of other visitors in quality music programme.
