The expert team of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ foundation in charge of participation, inclusion, and education plans to initiate numerous projects in the first year after winning the ECoC title in order to animate citizens and increase their participation.

One of the plans is to ‘develop cultural infrastructure’ by creating three ‘cultural stations’ until 2021, i.e. three new cultural centres. Two of them will be in Novi Sad – in Novo Naselje and Klisa, and one in Sremski Karlovci.

The City Department for Culture acknowledged the idea of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation about decentralisation of culture, and initiated the procedure for establishing new cultural institution – ‘Rumenka’ Cultural Centre. Therefore, in February 2017, the City Assembly of Novi Sad adopted a decision to establish the ‘Rumenka’ Cultural Centre as an institution for culture and education in order to organise and improve cultural life of the town through promotion of cultural and artistic programmes and cultural heritage. The work programme would be focused on organising of various cultural activities that would be interesting for members of all national communities that live in Rumenka, as well as for all ages.

Decentralisation of culture by opening ‘cultural stations’ outside the centre of Novi Sad is just one of the projects and actions that the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ foundation will implement by 2021. You will be timely informed about these projects and actions.
