The Gallery of Matica Srpska organised ‘The Young Choose’ exhibition within the ‘Little School of Museology’ project, which was the idea of 20 high school students. The project is implemented with the support of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation, within the ‘Audience in Focus’ public call in the year when Novi Sad holds the title of the European Youth Capital. The exhibition will be symbolically opened on 1 February, when the city of Novi Sad celebrates its birthday.
High school students have met different fields of museum work over the last few months. They found out how museum works and which possibilities it offers, they discussed about different interests of young people during workshops with curators, conservatives, museum educators and managers in culture. The workshops will be followed by the exhibition.
They presented artistic works that are kept in the Gallery and reviewed the cultural heritage of Serbia from their perspective in a different manner within three topics: ‘Society Time Machine’, ‘The Beginning of the End’ and ‘And Who Am I’.
With this project, the Gallery of Matica Srpska wanted to encourage young people and give them a chance to individually express their ideas and attitudes, take fresh look at Serbian art and try to achieve the result – the exhibition they will be proud of.
The OPENS youth club will have the so-called OPENS zone during the exhibition, where all visitors will have a chance to inform themselves about the idea and programmes of Novi Sad as the European Youth Capital.
