Charlie Chaplin accompanied by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra arrives in Novi Sad! A new event within the ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’ – ‘Filmharmony’, which combines classical music with the legendary silent films of the most famous comedian in the world, is scheduled for 3, 4 and 5 September in the Unification Park (Dunavska Street no. 35) at 8 p.m.
On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the birth of the Oscar winner for Lifetime Achievement and the owner of the longest, twelve-minute applause in history, Charlie Chaplin, the citizens of Novi Sad will have a chance to see two of his films in the open, ‘A Dog’s Life’ and ‘The Kid’ in the Unification Park.
It was ‘The Kid’ that initiated the distinctive character of a cropped moustache, tight coat, wide pants, oversized shoes, a half-cylinder and a stick, which made Chaplin one of the most famous faces in black and white movies..
These classics will be accompanied by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra that has a 147 years long tradition. Krešimir Batinić will lead the orchestra.
The ‘Filmharmony’ project that connects music and film art is co-financed from the INTEREG IPA cross-border cooperation between Serbia and Croatia 2014 – 2020, with the support of the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ and the Music Youth of Novi Sad as the partner in Serbia.

The ‘Kaleidoscope of Culture’ is the programme arch of the ‘Nov Sad 2021 – Capital of Culture’ project, which turns Novi Sad into the ‘city of scene’ through the culture of communion, at more than 80 locations from 24 to 30 August.
It connects spaces and programmes, as well as the actors themselves: the ‘Kaleidoscope’ presents a unique image of the diversity of Novi Sad through multiple arts, with its cultural institutions, non-institutional scene, artists and citizens themselves. With more than 400 programmes, everyone will have a chance to design their own kaleidoscope of culture.
