Numerous artistic events held in cultural stations across Novi Sad marked the last week, and audience had the opportunity to enjoy the exhibition, stage-music performance, concert, films. This week, diverse cultural contents will be implemented as well, in accordance with the pandemic situation and measures in order to prevent spreading of the COVID-19 virus.
‘Pokretnica’ festival of contemporary dance and performance is one of the projects that received funds for the implementation during the ‘Artists. Now!’ Public call and it begins in the Svilara Cultural Station on 17 August. On the same day, Dragana Kuzmanović will perform within the ‘Pocket Globe’ music journeys that are being held in the Egység Cultural Station. ‘Kao Dečaci’ film will be shown within the French summer cinema, at the plateau of Svilara. The ‘Guardians 8+8+8’ exhibition by Snežana Vujović Nikolić will be opened in Svilara on Thursday, while the audience will have a chance to enjoy the promotion of the ‘Bund Dece Socijalizma’ book by Dušan Vesić in the Svilara Cultural Station as well. Friday and Egység are reserved for ‘Kliknik’, a project by Mladen Kanazir, who received funds within the ‘Artists. Now!’ Public call for local artists.

‘Pokretnica’ festival of contemporary dance and performance, from 17 until 22 August in Svilara
This festival of initiative is a ‘moving force’ of collectives and includes female artists who work in the field of contemporary dance and music in Novi Sad and who, fight for continuity and life in the existing conditions. The programme of the festival includes dance performance, conceptual music night, dance workshops, open exhibition, open rehearsal, as well as the workshop that deals with the topic of cherishing our body. The festival lasts until 22 August.
World music in Egység today at 9 p.m.
Each Monday and Thursday from 9 p.m., ‘Pocket Globe’ music journeys are being held in the Egység Cultural Station, and audience can enjoy it via Mixcloud platform. This episode presents a reflection on rich and successful career of Philip Glass who is active as a music composer for film, opera and symphony for decades. The guest is Dragana Kuzmanović, one of the founders and creators of the ‘Euphonia’ festival that aims at promoting accordion.
The ‘Guardians 8’+8+8’ Exhibition in the Svilara Cultural Station on Thursday
The Svilara Cultural Station will host Snežana Vujović Nikolić and her exhibition ‘Guardians 8+8+8’ on Thursday, 20 August, at 7 p.m. Works under the same name Guardians will be presented within the exhibition. This topic emerged from the thoughts about the existence and nature of powers and energies that lead us throughout the life, creation and understanding and exploration of world, said the author. The guardians, as the force of nature, our spiritual wealth and knowledge, are presented on these works as fantastic creatures through abstract forms. The audience will have a chance to follow the opening of the exhibition online, via Facebook page of the Student Cultural Centre. The exhibition lasts until 27 August and it has been organised in accordance with preventive measures introduced due to the pandemic situation – no more than ten people in the space of the Svilara Cultural Station, adhering to social distancing measures and with the obligation to wear face masks.
The promotion of the ‘Bunt Dece Socijalizma’ book by Dušan vesić in Svilara
Dušan Vesić completes his trilogy about the most important moments of Yugoslav rock culture with his book ‘Bunt Dece Socijalizma’. Detailed story about this period, relentless chronicles with characteristic writing style, which Branimir Štulić compares to Borges’ style, with plenty of interesting and less familiar data, will be presented in the Svilara Cultural Station on Friday, at 9 p.m. You will have a chance to follow the promotion of the ‘Bunt Dece Socijalizma’ book online, via Facebook page of the Svilara Cultural Station.
Last week, audience enjoyed the stage-music performance ‘Plovidba’, directed by Vladislav Velkovski, which took place in the Egység Cultural Station. The Cultural Station also hosted Milica Denković and her exhibition ‘Spatial Odyssey: Destination Dystopia’, and we had a chance to listen to the concert by Irena Josifoska and Aleksandar Đermanović in the Svilara Cultural Station. These projects are part of the Public call for local artists, within the ‘Artists. Now!’ project by the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation, aimed at strengthening Novi Sad cultural scene, raising its capacities through the network of cultural stations, decentralisation of culture and audience development.
