The ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ project, as no other project so far, got huge and undeniable support from large number of citizens, associations and institutions, even during the candidacy process. The full support was also expressed during the meeting of Professor Miroslav Štatkić, Provincial Secretary for Culture, Public Information and Relations with Religious Communities, and delegation of the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation, led by Nemanja Milenković, CEO.
During the meeting, the subject of the discussion was future activities of the Foundation that are, partially, financed from the budget of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
– Each cultural worker, individually, or as part of the collective or some of the institutions should contribute to adequate representations of Novi Sad as a deserving capital of culture – said Štatkić and added that quality of the projects is more important than their quantity.
In order to confirm this stance, Mr Milenković stressed that the point of the entire process is that all of us are represented in the best possible way through series of creative projects, which will also have the component of sustainability.
– Funds that the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina allocated for this great endeavour are focused on projects and activities in the field of international relations, as well as for artistic, participation and inclusion activities – announced Mr Milenković.
As Mr Milenković underlined, this includes commission of necessary multimedia equipment, improvement of new small public spaces and activities related to inclusion of persons with disabilities as well as other vulnerable groups in social and cultural life of Novi Sad.
The support of the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina for the ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ project, as stressed by Mr Štatkić, is also seen in the financial aspect, since 87 million RSD was allocated for this project after the budget rebalance.
