From 3 until 6 June, Novi Sad will host young people from all over Europe, writers, journalists, politicians, scientists, and representatives of religious communities within the ‘We Talk about Europe – We Build Bridges’ conference that will be held outside the Europe Union for the first time.
They will discuss Europe from different points of view in the Svilara and Egység Cultural Stations. In addition to its future and recently held European elections, they will also talk about cultural heritage, education, literature and religion, because the goal of the conference, which is part of the ‘Future of Europe’ programme platform, is that Europe is not viewed only through politics and problems, but through other aspects, which are very important for society and go beyond the borders.
The conference will include reading poetry and presenting theatre project, while the topics of discussion will be Ivo Andrić, Novalis and Thomas Mann, the great writers.
The ‘Konrad Adenauer’ Foundation organises this traditional gathering in different European cities every other year. Partners of the ‘Konrad Adenauer’ Foundation on this project are the Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture, OPENS 2019, Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and the City of Novi Sad.
The conference will be opened by the ‘European perspective in times of populism: between identity and integration’ lecture, which will be held by Norbert Lammert, PhD, president of the Bundestag and Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
The ‘Future of Europe’ platform will include educative and circus workshops, exhibitions, festivals, concerts, theatre plays and many other activities. The focus is on children and young fellow citizens, who will have the opportunity to find cultural content according to their interests, but also to engage in creating new, different cultural contents, to learn about European values and to show how they can contribute to cultural image of the city.
