The ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation supported another curator from Novi Sad with the aim of professional training within the ‘Out of the Comfort Zone’ project. Ms Tijana Filipov, on behalf of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina, had a chance to see how the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka works from 5 until 14 October.

Goals of this professional training were to make new connections and network with colleagues, as well as artists and colleagues from Rijeka (Croatia), familiarise with methods of work of the Museum and its regular activities, contemporary way of expressing visual art and culture, ways of organising educational content and workshops, gain new experiences, familiarise with artistic scene of Croatia, and plan potential cooperation between two institutions.

Ms Tijana Filipov encountered the work of the Foundation led by the ‘Rijeka 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ project during the visit.

Plans for future cooperation were achieved with colleagues from the Museum in Rijeka, as well as the plan to bring current artists from Croatia to Novi Sad within the Risk Change project. After her return to Novi Sad, she shared experience with colleagues from the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina. Above all, she drew the attention to contemporary ways of presentation of collections, permanent exhibitions and interaction with audience, which is very important in order to attract larger number of regular visitors, wider audience and expert public, and reach new audience.

The aims of the ‘Out of the Comfort Zone’ project within which this exchange has been organised, are improving mobility, international cultural cooperation and building institutional and administrative capacities in cultural institutions on the territory of the city of Novi Sad and municipalities of Sremski Karlovci, Beočin and Irig.

This is the first call organised in Novi Sad that promotes mobility of cultural workers and it is the part of a broader strategy of internationalisation of cultural scene carried out by the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation.

The ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation supported 13 managers who work in public cultural institutions and organisations by providing funds for projects of professional trainings abroad, within the ‘Out of the Comfort Zone’ project.
