Prof. Siniša Sević, the President of the Assembly of the City of Novi Sad, officially opened the multimedia presentation of Novi Sad at the Danube Festival in Ulm this evening, and invited all who were present to visit Novi Sad, after they see its rich cultural offer on the exhibition.
Peter Langer, the founder of the Danube Festival and director of the Danube Academy, also spoke at the opening of the ‘Novi Sad – Open City’ exhibition and reminded the audience of the long-time cooperation between Ulm and Novi Sad.
Dr Andrej Fajgelj, the director of the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad, then showed the guests trough the entire exhibition which was set up on more than 180 square metres and presented the potentials of Novi Sad for a successful candidacy for the European Capital of Culture of 2021.
Sabine Maigel, the director of the Danube Festival in Ulm, also graced the opening of Novi Sad exhibition pavilion with her presence. Among the numerous visitors there were people from diaspora, as well as Germans that originate from Novi Sad and its surroundings.
The biggest attraction was the digital 3D model of the pipe that Albert Einstein got as a present from his father-in-law, and which was, up until the Danube Festival in Ulm, available only upon special request in the City Museum of Novi Sad, and after its premier in Ulm it will be available to all on the website of the Digital Heritage of Novi Sad (bbns.rs). It is one of the rare examples of 3D digitisation of cultural heritage in the region.
Apart from Einstein’s pipe, exhibition of national communities that live in Novi Sad, exhibition commemorating 150 years since the relocation of the Matica Srpska to Novi Sad, and numerous other segments of the presentation of Novi Sad culture in Ulm, younger visitors enjoyed the most in the sounds of Novi Sad festivals that were also presented within Novi Sad pavilion at the Danube Festival.
