Open Call for Haiku Poet

’Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation, in cooperation with EU-Japan Fest launches the:

OPEN CALL FOR HAIKU POET

who would like to hold a workshop of Haiku poet within the project ‘Lend me a Haiku’ in Novi Sad in November 2019. The profile of the candidates should be the following:
– Haiku poet resident in Japan (any nationality) or Japanese haiku poet living in Europe
– Good command of the English language (for communication purposes)
– Published author
– Preferably has experience in holding workshops
– Preferably has his/her work translated in English and/or other major European languages

Information about the workshop:
– Location: Cultural Stations of the ‘Novi Sad 2021’ Foundation
– Period: 6-7 days in the second part of November (it is possible to negotiate the exact dates) – 3 or 4 workshop sessions + literary evening and presentation of poet’s work
– Attendees: local literary scene and enthusiast for Japanese culture
– Project: ‘Lend me a Haiku’ is the project of within ‘Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture’ programme with deals with reconciliation. It is organised together with the City of Osijek (which is an unsuccessful candidate for Croatian European Capital of Culture for 2020), because Osijek and Novi Sad were on opposite sides in the Yugoslav wars in the 1990s.

Necessary documents to be sent to international@ns2021.rs:
– CV of the applicant
– Poems in English (if they have translations)

What do we cover:
– Travel costs
– Stay in a 3* hotel with breakfast
– Fee for the poet in the amount of EUR 150
– Equipment and space for the workshop

Deadline for submission: 30 September 2019.
