At the invitation of the team members Novi Sad 2021our town was visited by the team from Rijeka responsible for the application by which this city will soon be European Capital of Culture. During the 25th and 26th of April working-consultative meetings were held where the Rijeka Team presented its winning concept called „Port of Diversity“. After these presentations, the Novi Sad 2021 Team held consultative meetings, where representatives from Rijeka shared valuable experience about the application.
Executive Coordinator of the project from Rijeka, Mrs. Irena Kregar Šegota, said that ” capacities, creating a new vision and originality of the project are a key point in obtaining candidacy.“ She also mentioned the problems they encountered while working on the application, pointing out the extreme complexity of the tasks in the final stage of the nomination in which Novi Sad is right now. The project team of the European Capital of Culture together with the President of the Organizing Committee of Novi Sad 2021, Mr. Nemanja Milenković, also used this opportunity to talk about the application of Novi Sad, and how to present the „bid book“ to the European Commission in the best way. After several hours of consultation, the Novi Sad 2021Team received the information that will be of great help in future work, which was the key idea of this visit.
This was an opportunity for members of the Novi Sad 2021Team to meet the challenges that lie ahead, and to get answers to various questions in order to start working on the final realization of the project. During the meeting, both sides expressed a desire to cooperate, and the team from Rijeka proposed concrete suggestions in order to directly involve Novi Sad in the part of the Rijeka program.
