The third in a series of programs that promote the candidacy of the City of Novi Sad for the European Capital of Culture 2021 will be held at the Ship theatre.
On Tuesday, July 19th, at the Ship theatre, anchored at the Belgrade Quay a theater play „Our place“ will be performed with actors Nikolina Spasic and Milan Novakovic, directed by Bogdan Jankovic.
“Our place” is a story about two young people who come from different sides, from the south and the north, and here, in Novi Sad, trying to realize their ambitions. The play is based on the idea that the city is made up of people who live in it, and the essential message is to present Novi Sad just as it really is, especially for people who come to it.
Through this play, the third “bridge” of the program concept “4 new bridges” with which the City of Novi Sad candidate for prestigious title of European Capital of Culture will be presented. The third “bridge” carries the name RAINBOW and deals with issues of conflicts and migrations.
The citizens of Novi Sad have so far been able to meet with the first two program „bridges“ under the names of HOPE and FREEDOM, which are devoted to cultural capacities and public spaces, and creative industries and youth, which were promoted through the jazz concert held in the gallery of ITD at the Petrovaradin Fortress and fantastic – for the first time held in the open in Novi Sad, a concert of 100 Symphonic Orchestra Musicians – the performance of the VU-orchestra from the Netherlands, in the courtyard of the Gymnasium „Jovan Jovanović Zmaj“.
And tonight’s performance „Our place“, as the previous two events, will start at 20 o’clock and 21 minutes (8:21 PM) to associated the year 2021 in which the Novi Sad could become the European Capital of Culture. Admission is free.
The last in this series of cultural and artistic events is a concert of the famous violinist Stefan Milenkovic and orchestra „Camerata Academica“ in the Katolicka porta on Thursday, July 21st. That evening the fourth program bridge called NEW BRIDGE, with the topic of cultural heritage and hospitality, will be promoted.
All programs are prepared by the team of „Novi Sad 2021“, in charge of the Novi Sad candidacy for the title of European Capital of Culture, with the full support of the City of Novi Sad, in cooperation with the Music Youth of Novi Sad, Cultural Centre of Novi Sad and the Association „Strada“.
