Representatives of the city of Pécs who participated in the Pécs 2010 – European Capital of Culture project, held a work meeting with members of the Novi Sad 2021 foundation, which is in charge for implementation of the Novi Sad 2021 – European Capital of Culture project.
This meeting is especially important because these two cities, Pécs and Novi Sad, are not only the twin cities, but also a former and a future European Capital of Culture. Therefore, the main topic was the future cultural cooperation projects. The meeting was so fruitful that the participants had to agree to ‘stop’ at six projects, not because there were no other ideas, but in order to successfully focus the creative energy on their implementation.
On behalf of the Pécs 2010 project, Gábor Móczár who works at the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter and is a President of the European Choral Association, and Károly Méhes – a writer, journalist and member of the Pécs Writers Program attended the meeting with the members of the Novi Sad 2021 project, held in Novi Sad. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Collegium Hungaricum Hungarian cultural institute – János Dezső, the Director, and Damir Resimović, the Secretary of Culture.
This was the first big work meeting of the members of the Novi Sad 2021 team with an ECoC project in this year, and it was focused on making the cooperation more concrete. In the following months, meetings with representatives of ECoC projects will be organised once a month. Next meeting will be held in Rijeka in mid-March. It will discuss the cooperation between Rijeka, Timișoara, Plovdiv, Eleusis, Matera and Novi Sad within a big project focusing on education of young cultural producers, and on increasing capacities for project implementation.
