The prestigious award in the field of public diplomacy „Public Diplomacy Achievement Award“ was presented to American Corner coordinators in New Sad by Mr. Kyle Randolph Scott, US Ambassador to Serbia. According to his words, the American Corner Novi Sad is one of the most active American cultural centers in the world.
The reasons for awarding this prestigious prize to American Corner Novi Sad coordinators, Milica Rašković and Marko Bumbić, among other things was the fact they led the programs that emphasized the importance of volunteerism and civic initiatives, as well as taking personal responsibility for the welfare of every resident for environment and the wider community .
During the official visit to Novi Sad and the meeting with the mayor Mr. Miloš Vučević, the US Ambassador to Serbia, Mr. Kyle Scott, said that Novi Sad deserves to be European Capital of Culture in 2021 because of its specific spirit and gave full support, to the project.
We would also like to use this opportunity to emphasize that the awarded Milica Rašković is a member of „Novi Sad 2021“ Team which is responsible for coordinating all activities of the city of Novi Sad candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2021.
One of the most important tasks of the team „Novi Sad 2021“ was the preparation of the final application, the so-called „bid book“, which was sent to Brussels.
We truly believe that, in addition to all the successful and significant activities and support we received from all levels of government in the country, as well as the artistic and scientific institutions and individuals from the country and abroad, the support of the US ambassador to Serbia, Mr. Kyle Scott, will help Novi Sad become the first European Capital of Culture outside the EU.
