The ‘Art on the Stream’ exhibition from Ulm Sets Off on Tour to Cities of the Danube Region

The ‘Art on the Stream’ exhibition, which is part of the official programme of the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ project, will have its premiere to the visitors of the Museum in Ulm. From there, the tour will set off and it will last from 5 July until 6 September. During the following two years, the exhibition will be on view in Schallaburg, Košice, Pécs, Osijek and in official capitals of culture for 2021, Novi Sad and Timişoara.

The focus of this artistic project is the status of an artists in the Danube countries, as well as the tension between cosmopolitan view of an artist and traditional view of national culture. The project intentionally bypasses the mystification and exoticization of Eastern European artistic stereotypes. The exhibition will present parallels, identities, and differences and in that manner, offer an open and multifaceted insight into artistic views of different generations and artistic shapes.

The selected artists who participate in the project are: Birgit Brandis, Jörg Baier, Corinne Chotycki, Bettina Kattinger, Brigida Zuberi, Berenice Pahl, Helena Eribenne, Contact Zone, Rudolf Sikora, Oto Hudec, Flóra Pertics, Sándor Imreh, Péter Somody, Ana Petrović, Vladimir Frelih, Adrienn Újházi, Nikola Džafo, Constantin Flondor, Andrei Rosetti, Ciprian Bodea, Cosmin Fruntes, Sorin Scurtulescu, Silvia Gancheva and Yulian Stankulov.

The artistic works selected by:  Franziska Degendorfer (Karlsruhe), Olivia Jaques (Wien), Nikolas Bernath (Košice), Péter Somody (Pécs), Vladimir Frelih (Osijek), Andrea Palašti (Novi Sad), Sorin Scurtulescu (Temeswar) and Bozhidar Boyadzhiev (Sofia).

Those in charge of literature: Dieter Lohr (DE), Lydia Steinbacher (AT), Juraj Briškár (SK), Károly Méhes (HU), Helena Sablić Tomić (HR), Branislav Živanović (RS), Robert Șerban (RO), Palmi Ranchev (BG).

The project is financed by the Museum in Ulm, and it is co-financed by the partners in the project: German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg for Sciences, Research and Arts, Baden-Württemberg Foundation, Danube Office Ulm/Neu Ulm, as well as Department for culture of the Danube region at „Donauschwäbisches Zentralmuseum“.

The project is implemented in cooperation with the Danube cultural cluster, Pécs literary programme, ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ and ‘Timişoara – European Capital of Culture’.
