The most prominent electronic and print media in the country and the region, as well around Europe, reports about the proclamation of Novi Sad for the European Capital of Culture 2021. One of the latest reports in the series, which tells about the potentials this prestigious title carries along, was prepared by Al Jazeera Balkans.

Dušan Hadži Nikolić reports on how culture can develop a city in the best way.

As the President of the „Novi Sad 2021“, Nemanja Milenkovic, said for Al Jazeera Balkans, in the last 20 years the title of European Capital of Culture has been obtained by the cities which actually want to become it and which transform themselves and move through a completely new development concept.

– The city does not propel through economy, but the culture is in the focus which affects economy and the political and cultural transformation, and thus, through culture, the town receives the necessary change – said Milenkovic and stressed that in that sense Novi Sad is a good place and expressed his belief that this title will be a good step forward for Novi Sad in every sense.

The fact that new development concept, and that culture and cultural events can be a driver of economic development of the community in the best way proves the music festival EXIT. One of the best music festivals in Europe for years attracts tens of thousands of visitors from the country, the region and the whole world and all of them „multiple pay“ to the city budget more than was set aside for the organization of EXIT.
