During the official visit to the Rector’s Office and discussion between the Rector of the University, Mr. Dušan Nikolić, PhD, and a Member of the City Council for culture, Mr.Vanja Vučenović, the joint conclusion was carried out that it is necessary to establish closer cooperation between the City of Novi Sad and the University of Novi Sad, not only in terms of education but also in the area of joint planning of the overall social, economic and cultural development of the City as a whole. It was pointed that we live in a time where knowledge and creativity have crucial role in the creation of new values, which later affects the well-being of the entire community. Novi Sad is a university city and a city of young people who, primarily through high-quality education, new information technologies and entrepreneurial spirit, should be more involved in the society and take part in the responsibility of community progress.

The meeting was attended by the Program Director of the Project 2021 Novi Sad, Mr. Momčilo Bajac, PhD, who invited the Rector of the University with all its capacities to actively participate in the European Capital of Culture Project. In that manner the University of Novi Sad will be included in the University Network of the European Capitals of Culture, and therefore promote inter-university cooperation in the context of projects related to the Novi Sad candidacy for European Capital of Culture.

At the end of the meeting it was agreed to write a Protocol on cooperation between the City of Novi Sad and the University of Novi Sad, which would, within the jurisdiction of the City and the University, establish various forms of cooperation of mutual interest.

As a result, today in the Conference Hall of the City Hall, at 10 am, a member of the City Council for culture, Mr. Vanja Vučenović, and University Rector, Mr. Dušan Nikolić, PhD, have signed a Protocol on cooperation.
