During the preparation process and the process of candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2021, Novi Sad had the full support of all citizens, associations, institutions and all levels of government, and now, after gaining this prestigious title various announcements on planned investments are coming and they should enable Novi Sad to welcome 2021 in the best way when it will be one of the European cultural centers.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlović, announced additional investments in Novi Sad, in order to better prepare for 2021 when it will be European Capital of Culture. She said that on one of the following sessions of the Serbian Government the Mayor of Novi Sad will be invited to present what the needs and priorities are so all line ministries could help Novi Sad to more readily welcome 2021.

President of the Provincial Government, Igor Mirović, said that Vojvodina is ready to offer investors the best possible conditions. Mirović added that the Provincial Government is planning joint projects with the Government of the Republic of Serbia, among others, in the field of infrastructure and culture. He also said that they work together in Science and Technology Park with of 12.5 million euro value and that this is joint investment of the Government of Serbia, the Provincial Government, the City of Novi Sad and the University of Novi Sad.

Speaking about Novi Sad as a center of industry, information and communication technologies also spoke the Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, who while presenting the investment potentials of Novi Sad called the city  „Serbian Silicon Valley.“

This would greatly encourage the development of IT sector and creative industries, which is one of the „material“ project objectives of „Novi Sad 2021“. The project aims to build a kind of Creative Youth Polis in the so-called Chinatown, between Limanski Park and the Danube, where creative industries and, of course, information and communication technology, or IT sector would develop.

The Mayor of Novi Sad, Miloš Vučević, emphasizes that this deservedly won prestigious title of European Capital of Culture is a strong impetus to the future development of the city where implementation of major investments lie ahead. In this regard, the construction of a new Ballet and Music school has begun, funds for decorating facades have been provided, and considerable investments in „cultural“ infrastructure have been planned…
